The street fair is always a popular event for families. Bring the kids out for a good old-fashioned street fair. There is a variety of vendors with food, information, and items for sale.

Under 5 - stop by the Newsminer tent at Pioneer Park during Golden Days and pick up your picture of Alaska's resources to color.

Ages 5-10 - draw and color your own picture of Alaska's resources

Ages 11-14 and 15-19 (middle and high school) Write a short story or essay, 500 words or less, about Alaska's resources.

Bring your entries to the Newsminer Tent at Pioneer Park or the Newsminer office (200 N. Cushman)

Best drawing in the 5-10 yr old division will be published in the Youth Section, Friday, July 28th.

Enjoy many musical performances, FREE hot dogs, chips and sodas compliments of the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce and the Fairbanks Curling Lions.

The Boys & Girls Club will be serving food and providing children's activities. Have a beverage from the Saloon as you watch the Golden Days Periode Costume Contest, the Miss Ricki & Felix Pedro Look-A-Like Contest and the Mt. McKinley Bank Fashion Show. KTVF Channell 11 wil be there airing the 6pm news LIVE with event updates throughout the evening!

The library website tells us the Eva and Rosie are back, and will entertain kids in the Berry Room, but it's a mystery as to what they've cooked up. It also states "don't do it on an empty stomach". Sounds mysterious to me!! Go check it out, and post a comment on kid alaska about what it was all about!

This event is part of the Summer Reading "Get a Clue" program. Sign your young ones up, if you haven't already.

A re-enactment of Felix Pedro's walk into town after his discovery of gold on July 22nd, 1902. See history re-made as Felix leads his burro through Gold Rush Town, stopping at the Ole Time Denali State Bank where his "gold poke" will be weighed in.

This is for the 3-10 year olds. Have them put on their pj's and slippers and come and let the wonderful librarians in the Berry Room read them a bedtime story. You still have to read one at home, if they're awake from the car ride home.

What a great chance to take the older kids out to live outdoor theater. The Theatre group always puts on an entertaining dramatic event set in the lovely Fairbanks landscape. Somehow a play is just so much more exciting when out in the wild!!

Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s "Antony and Cleopatra," a powerful epic of love and war. Directed by Graham Watts, this outdoor stage production is an annual event of FST and is presented in conjunction with UAF Summer Sessions.
