Eagle River Nature Center Hikes

Visiting Alaska for the first time? Uncomfortable hiking on your own in the backcountry? This is the perfect hike for you, plus it’s free! Each summer, June through August, the Nature Center offers daily guided nature walks (Monday –Friday) by their naturalist docents. Just register at the front desk 10 minutes prior to the hike. A minimum of 3 participants will be required for the walk.

Nature Walks on the Rodak Trail
When? June 1, 2006 through August 31, 2006
Monday through Friday, 11am-12:30pm

Duration: 1.5 hours

Length: 1 mile on unpaved trail (sturdy walking shoes recommended)
Bring: camera, binoculars, water bottle, and be ready to learn and explore.


Directions to the Eagle River Nature Center
From Anchorage (from south):
Take the Glenn Highway North to the Eagle River Loop Road Exit. When you exit, you will immediately come to a traffic light. Continue on straight, cross the bridge and go straight through one more light. At the third traffic light, you have reached the Eagle River Road. Make a right on to Eagle River Road and follow the road to the end, 12 miles into the valley. The Nature Center is at the end of the road.
From Wasilla/ Palmer (from north):
Take the Glenn Highway South to the second Eagle River Exit (the first one is called the North Eagle River Access. The second one is called Eagle River Road). When you exit, make a left and go over the highway. You will immediately come to a traffic light. This road is called Eagle River Road. Make a right and follow the road to the end, 12 miles into the valley. The Nature Center is at the end of the road.
